One question, answered faster and more honestly than anyone else: do you need a visa, what does it cost, and where do you actually apply?

Why this exists

Search for almost any visa requirement and the first page of results is dominated by agents. They rank well, they look official, and they charge several times the government fee to fill in a form you could have filled in yourself. Search "Kenya eVisa" and you will be offered the same application the government sells for $30, at $90 and up — by sites that are not connected to Kenya at all.

The information those travellers needed is free, public and published by governments. It is just scattered, badly presented, and buried under people selling access to it. That is the whole problem this site solves.

How it works

Whether a passport needs a visa for a destination comes from an open dataset covering 199 passports, refreshed weekly, with every change reviewed by a person before it is published.

Everything that actually costs you money — the fee, the processing time, the document list, the portal link — is read by hand off the destination government's own pages. We hold 38 destinations that way so far, across 7524 published route pages, and each one records the exact sentence the figure came from.

What we refuse to do

• We do not put a paid link above a government one. The official portal is the primary button on every route page. This looks like leaving money on the table and does the opposite.
• We do not publish a figure we cannot point at a government page for. Several destinations here show no fee at all, because their government does not publish one centrally. A missing fee is an inconvenience; a wrong one costs someone a trip.
• We do not collect anything about you. No accounts, no email capture, no saved searches. See the privacy policy.
• We do not touch your application. We are not an agent and never will be. We link you to the government and get out of the way.

How it is funded

Advertising, and in future clearly-labelled affiliate links for things travellers genuinely need — travel insurance being the obvious one, since a Schengen visa legally requires medical cover.

We took advertising deliberately, because the alternative business model for a visa site is commission on sending you to an intermediary. That model puts the agent above the government link on the page, and that is the thing we exist to argue against. Ads are the less compromised option, and they are why the official portal can stay the main link.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to hear it more than any other kind of message. The data is text in a public change history, so a correction is a small reviewable edit and the page shows a new checked date the same day.
