eTA (electronic travel authorisation). Not a visa. A short online form for travellers who are already visa-exempt, usually approved automatically in minutes to hours. No appointment, no interview, no documents.
New Zealand does not require a full visa, but you must get an electronic travel authorisation approved before you travel. It is applied for online, usually granted quickly, and checked at the airport before you board.

Worth knowing
- Paper applications for the Visitor Visa are no longer accepted. Apply online.
- Request an NZeTA only through the official NZeTA website or app. The app is cheaper than the online form.
How long it takes
Processing is busiest between September and March. Immigration New Zealand recommends not booking non-refundable travel until the visa is approved. An NZeTA can take up to 72 hours.
