Vietnam e-Visa for Indians: fee, rules, official site

Indians need a visa for Vietnam. The e-Visa costs USD 25 single or USD 50 multiple entry on evisa.gov.vn, lasts up to 90 days and takes 3 working days.

Indian citizens need a visa for Vietnam. The simplest route is the e-Visa. You apply online, pay online and print the result. It is valid for up to 90 days, for one entry or several.

The fee is USD 25 for a single-entry e-Visa and USD 50 for a multiple-entry one. The only official place to apply is evisa.gov.vn, run by Vietnam’s Immigration Department.

Everything below was read on official Vietnamese government pages on 18 October 2026.

Do Indians need a visa?

Yes, on an ordinary passport. Vietnam’s agreement with India exempts only “individuals holding diplomatic passports, official passports” for stays of up to 90 days. That text sits in the visa exemption list on the official portal (evisa.gov.vn). India is not on it for ordinary passports.

The e-Visa is open to Indians. The portal says it is for “foreigners holding passports and not falling under the provisions of Clauses 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Article 8” of Vietnam’s immigration law. People covered by those clauses “shall not apply in person for e-Visa”; they go through an inviting agency and Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs instead. The Government of Viet Nam’s portal puts it simply: “Since August 15, 2023, all foreigners can apply for e-visa to visit Viet Nam regardless of their nationality” (baochinhphu.vn).

What the e-Visa gives you

The official portal states: “Vietnam e-Visa is valid for maximum of 90 days, single or multiple entry.” The application form adds a check that “the validity period of the e-Visa … must not exceed 90 days from the e-Visa issuance date.”

The Government of Viet Nam’s portal gives the same rule: “E-visa issued by Viet Nam shall be valid for maximum of 90 days, single or multiple entry.” See how an e-Visa differs from an ETA, ESTA or ETIAS.

The fee

The portal lists it word for word:

E-visa fee: Visa is valid once 25 USD / Visa is valid multiple times 50 USD

So:

  • Single entry: USD 25.
  • Multiple entry: USD 50.

You pay by card on the portal. The fee is not refunded if you are refused: “The e-visa application fee is paid through the e-visa portal’s e-payment gateway and is non-refundable in case the visa is not granted.”

How long it takes

The Immigration Department’s application page says: “Your application will be processed in 3 working days” (xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn). That is working days, not calendar days. Apply well before you fly, not the week of travel.

When it is done, you check the result with your registration code, email and date of birth. The same page says: “If being approved for E-visa, please print E-visa to enter/exit Vietnam.”

The official website, and the lookalikes

The only official portal is evisa.gov.vn. The Government of Viet Nam says all e-Visa information “is already available on e-visa website https://evisa.gov.vn/ managed by the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security.”

Search “Vietnam visa” and you will see many sites with names and designs that look official. Any site that is not evisa.gov.vn is not the government. If it asks for more than USD 25 or USD 50, the difference is its own charge, and you are handing your passport scan to a company you do not know.

Three quick checks:

  • The address is evisa.gov.vn. Nothing in front of “gov” except “evisa”.
  • The fee shown is USD 25 or USD 50, with no “service” or “urgent” add-ons.
  • Payment happens on the portal’s own payment gateway.

Photo and passport scan

You upload two images: a portrait and your passport data page. The portal’s rules for the photo:

Recent photo, size 4x6cm, jpg/jpeg format, file size ≤ 2MB, face looking straight, no hat, no glasses, polite clothes, white background

For the passport, it says: “Only upload 1 passport data page, upload clear photos, no lost corners.”

The system reads your details from the passport image and fills in the form. The instructions say “Users can check and update any incorrect information,” and warn that “if the passport photo is invalid, the system will not allow users to submit the application.” If your portrait and passport photo do not match well, it warns: “Your application may be rejected. Please upload another photo.”

Your passport

The form will not accept a passport that runs out too soon: “The passport’s validity must exceed the visa issuance date by at least 30 days.” That is the portal’s minimum. Airlines and other countries on your route may want more, so check the Vietnam page for Indian passport holders.

The portal also says temporary and emergency passports cannot be issued with a visa.

Where you can enter

An e-Visa does not work at every border crossing. The portal says: “Foreigners using e-visas must enter and exit Vietnam through international border gates designated by the Government.”

Its list has 13 airports, including:

  • Noi Bai (Hanoi)
  • Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City)
  • Da Nang
  • Cam Ranh (Nha Trang)
  • Phu Quoc
  • Cat Bi (Hai Phong)

It also lists land gates such as Moc Bai, Lao Bao, Mong Cai and Huu Nghi, and sea ports. When you apply, you name your intended gate of entry and exit. Check the full list on evisa.gov.vn before you book an overland or cruise route.

Fill it in carefully

The instructions say you must “declare sufficiently, accurately and honestly all true information in English,” and that an application “will be denied if there is any dishonest information.” The Immigration Department adds: “If there is any missing or incorrect/unidentified information, your application will not be accepted.”

Check your name against the passport’s printed lines, your passport number, dates of birth and travel, and your entry gate before you pay. We could not find an official page that explains how to change an e-Visa after it is issued, so treat the details as final once you submit.
