eVisa (electronic visa). A real visa application, made online instead of at an embassy. It is assessed, it takes days rather than minutes, and it can be refused.
You apply online before you travel and are approved before you fly. There is no embassy appointment and no interview — you fill in a form on the government's own site, pay the government's fee, and carry the approval with you.

Worth knowing
- A visit or tourist visa does not give you the right to work in the UAE. A job offered on a tourist visa is illegal.
- Airlines, agents and hotels add their own charges on top of the government fee. A visa issued in Dubai can be verified on the GDRFA website.
How long it takes
Arranged before you fly, inside the UAE, by an airline, a licensed travel agent, a hotel, or the UAE immigration authorities. UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas.
