Canada does not require a full visa, but you must get an electronic travel authorisation approved before you travel. It is applied for online, usually granted quickly, and checked at the airport before you board.

Worth knowing

  • The fee for a single entry and a multiple entry visitor visa is identical. Nobody can sell you a multiple entry visa for more.
  • Checking your own application status on the IRCC site is free.

How long it takes

Canada publishes live processing times per country and application type rather than a single figure. Check the official tool before booking travel.
