Turkey e-Visa for Indians: who qualifies and the official site

Indians can get a Türkiye e-Visa only with a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit. The conditions, the one-month single-entry rule, and the official site.

Indian citizens need a visa for Türkiye. You can get it online as an e-Visa, but only if you already hold a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the United States, the United Kingdom or Ireland. Without one, you apply for a sticker visa through the Turkish embassy’s system instead.

The e-Visa is single entry and valid for one month. Apply on the official site, evisa.gov.tr. The Turkish embassy in New Delhi says every other site offering an e-Visa is fake.

Everything below was read on official Turkish government pages on 4 October 2026.

Who qualifies for the e-Visa

Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Indian ordinary passport holders “with a valid Schengen members or USA, UK, Ireland visa or residence permit may get their single entry e-Visas valid for one month via the website www.evisa.gov.tr” (mfa.gov.tr).

The supporting visa or permit must be valid on the day you arrive. The official e-Visa site explains:

The only requirement for your visa/residence permit to be used as a supporting document is that it should be still valid (by date) by the time you enter Türkiye. Previously used or unused single-entry visas are accepted as long as their validity date covers your entry date to Türkiye. Please note that e-Visas of other countries are not accepted as a supporting document.

(evisa.gov.tr)

So a UK or US visa sticker counts, but another country’s e-Visa does not.

Carry the original. The embassy in New Delhi says supporting documents “in original should be available with the person” at Turkish immigration, and that if the document does not meet the criteria, “airline companies will not accept the applicant onboard” (embassy of Türkiye, New Delhi).

What the e-Visa allows

  • One entry, valid for one month.
  • Tourism or business only. “e-visa is only valid when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. For other purposes, such as work and study, visas are given by Turkish Embassies or Consulates.”
  • The general limit on any Turkish visa is that your stay “cannot exceed ninety days in every one hundred and eighty days.”

There is no visa on arrival for Indian citizens. The e-Visa site says citizens of the listed countries, India among them, “can obtain an e-Visa” but “are not eligible for visa on arrival.”

The fee

The official site sets the fee by nationality and passport type: “Please, click ‘Apply’ button on the homepage and select your country of travel document to find out the e-Visa fee that you are required to pay.” We could not see the amount for Indian passports without starting an application, so we do not quote one here. Check it on evisa.gov.tr before you pay.

The embassy in New Delhi says the e-Visa is the cheaper route: “Getting e-visa costs at least 85 USD less than sticker visa.”

Your passport

The ministry advises a passport “valid for at least 6 months as from the date of your arrival”. The legal minimum is shorter: an expiry date “at least 60 days beyond the ‘duration of stay’” of your visa. Aim for six months.

If you do not hold a Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa

You need a sticker visa. The ministry says applications go through the pre-application system at visa.gov.tr, and that if your country uses a visa application centre, you contact that centre (mfa.gov.tr).

For India, the embassy in New Delhi names Gateway as its visa application centre, with a service fee of USD 50 (excluding taxes) for a regular application. That fee is for the contractor’s service and is separate from the visa fee (embassy of Türkiye, New Delhi).

Fake e-Visa sites

The embassy in New Delhi is blunt:

Kindly be warned, apart from this official website all other websites claiming providing e-visa are fake. Those fake websites get e-visa for you from official website and charge more than twice of the official e-visa website

It adds: “No handling company is delegated to issue or facilitate e-visa by Turkish missions in India. Applicants should do their own e-visa application.” See our guide to spotting fake visa websites.
