Who needs a visa for Türkiye?

Of 198 nationalities, 94 enter Türkiye with no paperwork at all. The rest: 11 can get a visa at the border and 93 must be approved before they travel.

What Türkiye asks for

  • Passport valid for at least six months from arrival

Worth knowing

  • evisa.gov.tr is the only official e-Visa site. Other sites selling a Türkiye e-Visa apply on the same site and charge more than twice the official fee.
  • The e-Visa is for tourism or business only. Work and study need a visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate.

Nothing to apply for and nothing to pay before you travel.

eVisa (electronic visa) 10

A real visa application, made online instead of at an embassy. It is assessed, it takes days rather than minutes, and it can be refused.

Visa on arrival 11

Issued at the border rather than beforehand. Bring the fee in cash in the currency the border post accepts. It is a permission, not a guarantee.

Visa required 83

You must apply and be approved before you travel. Airlines will refuse to board you without it.
