Who needs a visa for Ghana?

Of 198 nationalities, 39 enter Ghana with no paperwork at all. The rest: 23 can get a visa at the border and 136 must be approved before they travel.

What Ghana asks for

  • Passport valid for at least six months
  • Completed visa application form from the mission you are applying to
  • Two passport photographs
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Evidence of where you will stay

Worth knowing

  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate is checked on arrival in Ghana.
  • Visa on arrival in Ghana is not automatic. It has to be approved by the Immigration Service before you fly.

Issued at the border rather than beforehand. Bring the fee in cash in the currency the border post accepts. It is a permission, not a guarantee.

Visa required 136

You must apply and be approved before you travel. Airlines will refuse to board you without it.
