What Australia asks for

  • Passport
  • Evidence of funds to cover your stay
  • Evidence that you intend to leave Australia, such as employment or study ties
  • A statement explaining the purpose of your visit
  • Health insurance, where the officer asks for it

Worth knowing

  • Australia grants visas electronically. There is no sticker in your passport, and no legitimate service charges to 'print' or 'activate' one.
  • From 1 July 2026 a lower visa cost applies in limited concession cases. The concession is granted by Home Affairs, not by an agent.

What do you need?

Who needs what

Visa free 1

Nothing to apply for and nothing to pay before you travel.

eTA (electronic travel authorisation) 45

Not a visa. A short online form for travellers who are already visa-exempt, usually approved automatically in minutes to hours. No appointment, no interview, no documents.

eVisa (electronic visa) 151

A real visa application, made online instead of at an embassy. It is assessed, it takes days rather than minutes, and it can be refused.

No admission 1

A government policy, not a paperwork problem. No agent or service can work around it.
